Dr. Debra Alexander elected APSO President at General Assembly in Seoul

Seoul, 23 September 2025 — The Association of Paralympic Sport Organisations (APSO) held its General Assembly in Seoul, where members reviewed reports and finances, endorsed the APSO Strategy 2025–2032, and elected new leadership.

In the presidential election, Dr. Debra Alexander (South Africa) won with 10 votes to 5 against Richard Allcroft (United Kingdom).

APSO Sport Technical Meeting 2025 brings together experts on Para sport event hosting

On Thursday, 21 August, APSO hosted its annual Sport Technical Meeting online via Zoom. The three-hour session gathered 24 specialists and staff members, representing 17 APSO member federations and one IPC sport, to share expertise and exchange practical solutions on hosting Para sport events.

ITTF World Para Championships Pattaya 2026 to make history with complete gender equality

The ITTF World Para Table Tennis Championships 2026 will make history when 165 male and 165 female athletes compete in Pattaya from 23-29 November, marking the first time the championships have achieved complete gender equality. 

This groundbreaking milestone coincides perfectly with the ITTF’s centenary celebrations, creating what promises to be a special ITTF World Para Championships in the sport’s history.

APSO Executive Board adopts Strategy 2025–2032

The Association of Paralympic Sports Organisations (APSO) is pleased to announce the official adoption of its new Strategy 2025–2032, following approval by the APSO Executive Board at its meeting on 23 June 2025.

Developed through an inclusive and consultative process, the strategy reflects the views, priorities, and aspirations of APSO’s members and key stakeholders across the Paralympic Movement. Input was gathered via strategic session and a series of individual interviews, ensuring the document is both grounded in reality and forward-looking in vision.

2025 World ParaVolley World Cup to be Held in Fort Wayne (IN), USA

FORT WAYNE, IN (June 3, 2025) – Turnstone Center, in partnership with World ParaVolley (WPV), Visit Fort Wayne, and the City of Fort Wayne, announced today that Fort Wayne will host the 2025 WPV Sitting ParaVolley World Cup from October 12–18, 2025.

This prestigious international event will bring nearly 500 athletes, officials, and delegates from over 20 countries to northeast Indiana. It will mark the first time the Sitting ParaVolley World Cup is hosted in the United States and is expected to generate an economic impact of more than $2.3 million for Allen County.

ITF signs MOU with International Para-standing Tennis & Padel

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) and the International Para-standing Tennis and Padel Association (IPSTPA) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to promote collaboration between both organisations.

The MOU recognises the clear alignment in values and the ITF’s commitment to the expansion of access to tennis, regardless of the barriers created by disability.
