World Sailing has formally published its first ever Accessibility Guide to support and advise event organisers and venues in making proactive changes to encourage a fully inclusive sport at all levels. The guide outlines a series of reasonable adjustments that can be made to improve inclusivity which are adaptable based on the circumstances.

On 22nd November, by unanimous decision, the World Abilitysport Governing Board awarded the 2026 World Abilitysport Guttmann Games to Pajulahti Olympic and Paralympic Training Centre in Finland.

The venue, which is the country’s Paralympic training centre and located in the picturesque Nastola in Lahti boasts facilities such as an ice rink, two football pitches, beach volley courts, six tennis courts and a climbing wall which impressed on the site visit.

The International Paralympic Committee (IPC) is significantly increasing its investment into sport development initiatives that benefit its members from 2025 onwards thanks to a landmark four-year grant agreement with the Toyota Mobility Foundation.

Toyota Mobility Foundation, whose mission is to create a truly mobile society that will help people around the world live better lives, will provide grant funding to the IPC to deliver a wide range of transformational sport development initiatives under the umbrella of Sport for Mobility.

The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) has officially announced that Glasgow will host the 2026 Commonwealth Games. This marks a return to Scotland for the event, following Glasgow’s successful hosting of the Games in 2014. The 23rd edition of the Commonwealth Games will take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026, featuring a streamlined 10-sport program held across four main venues within an eight-mile corridor.

The 2025 World Abilitysport Games have been awarded to the city of Jakarta and the National Paralympic Committee of Indonesia.

For the first time in World Triathlon history, the 2024 World Triathlon Multisport Championships in Townsville awarded a separate set of medals to athletes with Intellectual Impairment that are competing at the event – even if this impairment is currently not considered under the Para triathlon classification system but is an IPC-recognised impairment.

A sustainability concept that covers all areas

Environment, society, economy, management… the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships have a sustainability concept that covers all areas of the event taking place in Zurich, Switzerland, in September.

“We have set specific sustainability goals and these will be measured and reported in our Sustainability Report,” says the sustainability expert for the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Fabienne Dirksen.

IBSA recently concluded a successful two-day West Asia Women’s Development Workshop in Amman, Jordan, supported by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) IF grant and organized with the Jordan National Paralympic Committee.

Stevenston, Scotland – World Curling and Scottish Curling are pleased to announce that the Auchenharvie Leisure Centre in the Scottish town of Stevenston will host the 2025 editions of World Wheelchair Curling Championship and World Wheelchair Mixed Doubles Curling Championship.

The North Ayrshire town of Stevenston, sits on the west coast of Scotland, 30 miles from Glasgow. These wheelchair championships mark the first time this town has hosted an international curling event.

World Sailing is targeting a return to the Paralympic Games after publishing its first Para Inclusive Strategy which will guide the growth of the sport through to 2029. 

The Para Inclusive Strategy focuses on growing Para Sailing in collaboration with Member National Authorities (MNAs), major events, and within the structure of the world governing body of sailing to deliver a more inclusive sport and increase the number of countries participating in Para Sailing.
